Romeo Beckham, son of footballer David Beckham and designer Victoria Beckham, is set to make his feature film debut in the upcoming French romantic drama, 'Forty Love'. The film is described as a queer-themed story set in the competitive world of professional tennis.

According to reports from Variety, the film follows a rising tennis star, played by French actor Paul Kircher (The Animal Kingdom), who is on the verge of a major victory in Paris. His professional and personal life is thrown into disarray by the arrival of a charismatic new challenger, portrayed by Beckham. The official synopsis suggests the rivalry develops into something more, stating the protagonist faces "an opponent of an entirely different nature - love... a force as exhilarating as it is destabilising."

The premise of a high-stakes sports rivalry intertwined with romantic tension may draw comparisons to Luca Guadagnino's recent film Challengers, which also explored complex relationships against a backdrop of professional tennis.

A Notable Cast and Crew

The project marks the directorial debut for fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, suggesting the film may have a distinct visual style. The cast also includes established French cinema figures, with Guillaume Canet and acting legend Catherine Deneuve slated to appear in supporting roles.

A New Career Path

At 23, Beckham has previously pursued careers in both football and tennis before shifting his focus to fashion, where he has worked as a model for brands including Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. 'Forty Love' marks his first significant step into the world of acting.

The film is currently in post-production, with a theatrical release anticipated for 25 November.
