Open and inclusive community
qMeetNL started as a group on Meetup.com - "Gay & LesBian Social The Netherlands". In time the "LGBT+ alphabet soup" became longer and more diverse. And while the fight for equal rights for gay and lesbians is still outgoing, we welcome in our community and in our safe spaces all identities and expressions of gender and sexuality. Adding "Queer" in the name sends a clear message to any queer person that they are indeed welcome!
The top-down approach of Meetup can limit the natural processes in a community. In an open environment where everybody is equaly seen and heard people can brainstorm, create, play, explore, discuss and have fun in more satisfying ways. That's why we have created a WhatsApp community where everybody is welcome to participate in an equal way. On the other hand the structured approach of Meetup helps host events effectively and makes administering of the calendar easy and clear.
That's why we have incorporated the Meetup group, the WhatsApp community and the Facebook group under one platform - qMeet NL.

The qMeet NL Community on WhatsApp is for queer people to meet, share and connect.
You can share interesting events, ideas, ask for an advice or help. You can connect directly with people who are visiting the same events. You can come up with ideas about meetings and things to do together.
